One of our Kitchen Managers, Tracey Smart who won 2 bronze and 2 silver awards at LACA’s Finishing Touches competition.  Tracey was representing Big Fresh Catering at the conference and scooped 4 awards more than any other competitor at the event.

We’re so proud of the work she continues to achieve at Palmerston Primary School with the pupils and has her own garden where she has grown blueberries, strawberries, runner beans and tomatoes.  The pupils pick the produce with her and she prepares it for their salad/fruit bar.

The awards were:

Silver Award – Cup Cakes

Silver Award – Cheesecake

Bronze Award – Tray Bake

Bronze Award – Vegetarian Quiche

We also have the kitchen team at Ysgol Gwaun y Nant led by Natalie North who won a bronze award in the ‘Eat them to Defeat them’ national competition.  Natalie and the team provided a variety of vegetables, salad vegetables and fruits throughout the campaign introducing pupils to new tastes in their meals and raw with their salad bar options.  This is the second year Natalie and the team have placed in the top 3 schools. Fantastic work by the team in addition to their normal day to day duties.
